As Blue As Can Be The ocean is blue, as blue as can be I could sure do with that view right now Coz I’m down here on bended knees with a monkey, a toad and a cawing crow I looked out there and I looked in here and I tossed all night looking in my bed I picked my way through famine, flood and fire Finally found my voice but lost my head As blue, as blue as as blue, as blue as can be Did you read the note, did I tell you that when you walked out the house fell down Now isn’t that the straw that broke the last camel’s back Couldn’t see it for dust as it left town Oh the ocean is blue, as blue as can be Couldn’t I curl up and lie in that blue right now I can hear the waves like they’re coming through a shell or coming over the dunes where we lay down As blue, as blue as as blue, as blue as can be The ocean is blue, as blue as can be I could sure do with that view right now because I’m down here on bended knees with a monkey, a toad and a cawing crow

A Bend in the Road With these hands I built a house at a bend in the road near a dry creek bed I built a house with what I found Sticks and stones and bits of string In the yard I dug a hole and buried what I did not need It all took root and there did grow as the forest trees gathered round to see I built a house at a bend in the road And the two of us we made a child and then we stood and watched him grow On those legs he walked away and hand in hand we waved goodbye While the leaves unfurled and fell and the sun spun wildly overhead you looked into my eyes at a bend in the road near a dry creek bed I built a house at a bend in the road

Dreams 05:01
Dreams You remember me don’t you I am the one we swept off my feet once upon a time Tell me what you want baby I’ll tell you what I still got Tell me what you found I’ll tell you what I lost Dreams … Money is no object don’t look at the price tag As long as you’re happy honey I’ll pick up the tab Don’t look out the window it’s pouring down out there and there’s nothing like running my fingers through your hair Dreams … come true I’ve been all over you and you've been all over me Yeah we did all that and we just started again in my dream The dogs are at the dishes and the flies are in the stew You hang right on to me now coz our dreams come true Dreams … come true We’ve seen the acrobats and we’ve seen the clowns Walked home in the rain God, we nearly drowned Come back from the window now it’s pouring down out there Here it's warm, soft and safe when fools like us let their Dreams … come true

In a Song 04:42
In a Song You’re staring at the stars or the waves unrolling Where the land ends, the sea begins I went down to the dock when the sun was high and set off for kingdoms with eyes open wide They sing of release and burden and jest They sing like a bird as dawn strikes its breast The wailing of babies and the call of the wild I left for the mine, my lantern aglow And in the end I do return you'd better believe it It all begins and ends in a song You bring the roses I’ll bring the champagne In this starry eve we’ll never be the same They sing of their triumphs and they sing of their woes They sing for words to follow where that feeling goes You can live like a pauper or live like a prince It makes no difference when you fall for those tricks There are those who don’t know it and those who don’t care But they all end up singing as the dusk fills the air And in the end I do return you'd better believe it It all begins and ends in a song In a song

Crow's Feet and Crocodile Tears It’s riding on the wind blowing in our hearts It's singing in the rigging It’s plotted on the charts The wreck's on the reef You probably think the guy’s all washed up Give him a push and he'll sink The hull is breached the plank is sawn The anchor's dragging the sails are torn Spent my wages gambled my years Made me a fistful of crow’s feet and crocodile tears I got no time I got no fear That’s all just crow’s feet and crocodile tears Pockets bulging with plans and tools scraps of poems screwed up like yesterday's news Heart strings humming the rigging's taut Old winds of love songs echo in the port Lean a bit closer I'll tell you where it hurts Write me a prescription I'll use it in the next verse And tell my friends I love them so Wherever they are now they might want to know I got no time I got no fear That’s all just crow’s feet and crocodile tears

The Rider 06:17
The Rider The lights are coming on in the valley and every palace dreamt of is behind me These mountains that I cross are almost real When all the world's asleep I'm only dreaming It causes no pain, it reaps no gain It preaches no faith if I sit firm and ride the broken rhythm, if I ride the broken rhythm, if I ride taking all these losses in my stride Well I'm not the one who chooses the direction The place I cannot go lies there before me The only thing not here is what I'm missing Not to speak at all I count my blessings It causes no pain, it reaps no gain It preaches no faith if I sit firm and ride the broken rhythm, if I ride the broken rhythm, if I ride taking all these losses in my stride Among the clouds, he looks down from the mountain and sees his house The lights are on, the smell of cooking voices coming through the walls his warm bed, the woman he loves But where can he go, only forward hounded by the sun, following the moon hounded by the sun, following the moon he rides on, he rides on, he rides on And the lights are coming on in the valley

about

Was living in a shack up north, at a bend in the road, embarking on a new life, every day embracing the new day, the sea, as blue as can be, navigating my horizons and shores, yeah, at a bend in the road, where dreams opened fresh as flowers dusted new with morning dew, and once again it all begins and ends in a song, everything, and we thought not at all about the length of the plank, the depth of it all, the crow's feet and crocodile tears, no, not at all, in the saddle tall, we went and we go, along the road, me and the rider.
